[Employees’ volunteer activities]
The employees of LS Cable & System have voluntarily agreed to have fractions less than KRW1,000 deducted from their salaries and bonuses entrusting the company to match the same amount and use the money to help children raised by grandparents, families of people with disabilities and senior citizens living alone in the local community.
More than 600 employees of the Gumi and Indong plants volunteer their time and efforts to help the Chamsaranghoe (True Love Association), established in 1999, while about 200 employees of the Donghae Plant participate in the activities of the Jeongnanumhoe (Affection Sharing Association) that was established in 2009 when the plant was completed. The volunteers periodically visit local welfare centers to help them improve their residential environment, throw birthday parties, hold athletic meets, and provide free meals and even beauty services. They also provide funds for fuel and subsidiary food costs, and scholarships for teenage heads of households, and they even work to clean up local rivers and cultural heritage sites. At the end of each year, they deliver so called briquettes of love to the underprivileged living near each plant and office site and even make kimchi for them.
